Words That Carry On are working with the McPin Foundation, a registered charity, whose mission is to improve everyone’s mental health through research informed and directed by lived experience. Together, they want the value of lived experience of mental health issues to be upheld and embraced, which is why they put it at the heart of all their work. Together they engage people with a personal interest, clinicians and professionals to define the scope of research, ensure it is relevant and has a positive impact on improving experiences of mental health care.
Every penny Words That Carry On raise goes to a fund hosted by the McPin Foundation, which contributes expertise and administrative support. Words That Carry On share updates with their donors on how their money is being spent and any research findings through their newsletter. You can join their mailing list here.
The McPin Foundation is a mental health research charity. Their work is inspired by their vision of a mental health system in which research and services are shaped by people with relevant personal experience that relates to the research being carried out or the service being designed.
They aim to do this by:
-
Delivering high-quality mental health research and evaluations that use collaborative methods
-
Supporting and helping to shape the research of others, often advising on strategies to involve expertise from lived experience
-
Working to ensure mental health research achieves positive change by influencing methods, practice, and decision making in mental health research.
